Loofing around

Following on from growing, peeling and drying the luffas they’ve all now been sliced and chopped up into useable sponges for the kitchen and bathroom.

The sewing machine coped well with stitching both ends of the sponge, which we flattened and trimmed, popping in a twine loop for hanging the scrubbies up to dry between use.

They work equally well for washing the dishes and as a sponge in the bath, lasting a long time and being easy to clean.

As well as the scrubbies we’ve made some smaller flatter versions for dinky soaps mats.
